VERY high. Higher chances than normal. You are VERY fertile right after giving birth. My friend found out she was pregnant with her second baby at her 6 week postpartum check up. They Only had sex once, and used a condom very carefully. Her kids are now 10 month apart.

You can pregnant as soon as you ovulate. Some women ovulate four to six weeks after delivery. Others (particularly breast feeding moms) may have their first ovulation much later.

  6. You are very fertile right after giving birth. Ever heard of Irish twins? This is how they happen. Use birth control if you’re having sex.

  7. That is a womans most fertile time! I know how it feels for you though, my husband will be coming home for our childs birth in july as well, but you still need to use protection. Yes, it may be better without it, but you don’t need to get pregnant that fast after having a baby. Your body has had no time to heal.

  8. I wouldn’t be worrying about pregnancy, I’d be worrying about giving yourself a postpartum infection. This is the main reason why they tell you to wait 6 weeks to resume intercourse after delivery. Even if you are no longer bleeding and feel fine, there is a ton of healing internally that needs to take place. Where the placental attachment site is on the inside of the uterus, it’s like a big open sore, a prime site for bacteria to settle in and cause infection. There are also minor tissue tears and abrasions inside the vagina and cervix that you cannot see or feel, also good places to get infected.

If you ever saw a woman land back in the hospital, in the ICU, septic, separated from her newborn, you wouldn’t think it was worth it to resume intercourse so soon. I know you missed your husband, but there are other ways to be intimate. It’s not worth risking your health and well being over. You took your doctor’s advice for 9 long months of pregnancy to keep yourself and your baby healthy, do yourself the same courtesy now in this crucial healing period.
